We always strive to learn the latest in pediatrics

This week the American Academy of Pediatrics holds their fall conference.   Many of our physicians will attend several of the sessions that will be available to hear about the latest research, policies and medical discoveries that are happening in pediatrics.   This also affords them the opportunity to talk with a host of other pediatricians from all across the country.    Our own Dr. Shelly Flais opens the AAP highlights video with the some of the things that make Chicago an incredible place to live. Hurricane Harvey gives us an opportunity to teach our children about helping others.

Many of us have friends or family that were affected by Hurricane Harvey.  The disastrous flooding caused not only the loss of property but everything…..jobs, vehicles, mementos, pictures, important documents, clothing, crops, fresh food and water supplies.  The impact of this storm will surely leave many families with absolutely nothing.  It’s estimated that the losses will amount to hundreds of billions of dollars.  While the government will provide much assistance, they can’t absorb all the cost.   This past year our country has witness increased violence and hatred towards one another.  And now we have a disaster of epic proportions.  But the good news is that out of such pain and suffering we are seeing an outpouring of care and concern for the victims of the hurricane.   People all over the country are sending water, food, money and clothing as quickly as they can to help the recovery efforts.  This is an opportunity to teach ...
