Looking for a free activity to do with the kids this weekend?

 
A Children’s Safety Expo hosted by Senator Michael Connelly and Representative Grant Wehrli will be held on Saturday, Aug 22nd from 9:30-12:30 pm at the Frontier Sports Complex located at 3380 Cedar Glade Drive in Naperville.

Among the activities:  “Touch a Truck”, where kids can jump behind the wheel of a police SUV, fire truck, or street cleaner (as well as several other types of vehicles!). 

Get up close to a LIFESTAR Chicago medical helicopter between 9:30-11:30 am and enjoy the “Traveling World of Reptiles” at 10:30 am. 

A free face painting booth will be available as well as displays from our first responders.  It's a great opportunity for kids to ask questions of police and fire personnel.

Common and unpredictable, the influenza virus can cause serious complications including death in even the healthiest children.  In the United States, about 5% to 20% of the population will be diagnosed with influenza every year, causing over 200,000 hospitalizations.  Last year, there were at least 77 children that died from influenza, and this does not include deaths that were caused by secondary complications such as pneumonia and respiratory failure.  The 2010/2011 flu season data reported 49% of deaths in children from influenza...
