  S p e c i a l D e l i v e r y!   C o n g r a t u l a t i o n s to Dr. Nishat Nasrullah on the birth  of  her beautiful baby girl Isra born Monday July 10th! She weighed in at 6 lbs. 8 oz. and is 20 inches long. Along with mom and dad, Isra was joyously welcomed home by her two brothers and a sister. Dr. Nasrullah returns from maternity leave in October.                                                

Treating An Injury With Heat or Ice?

If you or your child has been injured and it has been determined that emergency medical treatment is not required, would you know if the injury required a hot or cold compress? Most people tend to reach right for the cold compress to soothe injuries, but there are some cases in which more relief would be provided if heat was applied to the area as opposed to ice. Here are some situations where ice or heat would be beneficial: Ice: Sprains Strains Reduce swelling and inflammation Slow down bleeding Heat: Back spasms Chronic ailments Muscle aches Helps to stimulate blood flow Before treating any injury, make sure to assess the situation.  Does the area feel tight and stiff? Is the area inflamed?
